A political interest group, the Turaki Vanguard, has urged former Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari to withdraw from the 2015 presidential race, reports Premium Times.
The group, made up of loyalists of the former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar said Buhari’s candidature cannot add anything new to the fortunes of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in next year’s presidential election.
The group in a statement signed by its National President, Oladimeji Fabiyi, said the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was clearly championing the emergence of Buhari because it had mastered the art of defeating him having defeated him three times in the past.
He noted that the PDP would be comfortable with Buhari rather than Atiku.
Both Buhari and Atiku are among the leading contenders seeking the APC’s ticket for the presidential election.
