Kano To Purchase New Ebola Protective Kits
Kano state government north western Nigeria is to procure 2,000 Certified Personal Protective Equipments, PPE, to fight Ebola outbreak in the state.
The Kano state Chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, Dr Sharufudeen Mashi said “the procurement plan was based on advice given to the state government committee on Ebola that thirty three protective equipment earlier purchased were not fit Kits for the treatment of the virus.”
He stressed that the committee had pledge to bring the planed 2,000 protective equipment for certification by the NMA, when they are purchased.
“There is the need to purchase large quantity of the kits because one doctor is expected to use three of the kits per day in an event of the outbreak.” Dr Mashi explained.
He pointed out that the NMA had commenced public awareness and enlightenment programmes for health workers on how to identify the virus at early stage and the preventive measures to adopt.
