Lagos 2015: Ambode Releases Manifesto, Promises Free Education, N25billion Lagos Employment Trust Fund

The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress [APC} in Lagos State has promised, if elected, to set up a four-year N25 billion trust fund to cater for unemployed people in the state.

Akinwunmi Ambode said in his manifesto released Sunday that the Lagos Employment Trust Fund (LETF) would provide access a minimum of N1 billion naira annually for entrepreneurial ventures across the state’s five divisions of Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos and Epe.

“We will protect the growth of small and medium scale enterprises by providing tax incentives,” said Mr. Ambode, a former Accountant-General of the state.

Cynthia Morgan Denies Copyright Infringment


Dancehall star Cynthia Morgan has denied that she stole the concept of her ‘Porpori’ song from Queen Ure.

Queen Ure recently went on to get a Federal High Court order stopping Cynthia Morgan from using the song title, “Popori”.

Cynthia Morgan told fans on Twitter that it was false about a court stopping the distribution of her song.

Fayose Urges North To Wait Till 2019 For Presidency

 Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, has advised the Northern region to wait till 2019 when it will be their turn to produce the president, reports Punch.

Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Fayose said since the South-West had ruled for eight years, the South-South should be allowed to continue.

He said that four years is not too much for the North to wait for the return of the presidency to the region.

He described the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Mohammadu Buhari, as the candidate of former Lagos State governor, Bola Tinubu.

Ex MBGN Contestant Esther Kanu Passes Away


Esther Kanu, who participated in the 2013 edition of Most Beautiful Girl In Nigeria beauty pageant representing Abia State, has passed away.
According to Pulse.ng, the 24-year-old died on the morning of Wednesday, January 7th 2014. Sources say she suddenly slumped and was immediately taken to the hospital, where she was confirmed dead.
Just 2 weeks ago, she had wished her friends a Merry Christmas on Instagram.

Shell Reaches $84 Million Settlement Deal in Niger Delta Oil Spill Case


After a three-year legal battle, Royal Dutch Shell has finally agreed to an $84 million settlement with residents of Bodo community in Niger Delta. They are being compensated for two oil spills that occurred in 2008 and 2009 respectively.

According to BBC, the 15,600 fishermen in the case will be given $3,300 each as compensation for losses they experienced as a result of the oil spills. The remaining $30 million will be given to the community as a whole to aid in eradicating the environmental pollution caused by the incident.

Judiciary Strike Stalls Synagogue Church BUilding Collapse Inquest



The strike embarked upon by judiciary workers on Tuesday stalled further hearing in the coroner’s inquest into the collapse of a guest house within the Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN.

On ​Monday, the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, commenced an indefinite strike to demand for financial autonomy for state courts.

The Ikeja High Court premises had been locked up by JUSUN members for the second day running.

PDP Flags Off Campaigns In Lagos Wednesday



The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will on Wednesday formally kick off its campaigns for the February elections, President Goodluck Jonathan has said.

The president, who disclosed this in Abuja on Tuesday at the inauguration of the Presidential Campaign Council, said he and the party’s governorship candidates in all the states in the elections would be presented with its flags.

He said the handing over of flags to other categories of candidates would be subsequently worked out by the PDP National Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu.
