Anna Wintour Confirms: Kim Kardashian And Kanye West Are Tacky

Anna Wintour reveals the real, hilarious reason she put Kimye on the cover of Vogue.

What we all thought about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's Vogue cover has been confirmed: Anna Wintour was totally trolling us.

The fashion world was absolutely shocked when the normally staid Wintour chose a reality star and a rapper to cover her very, very serious fashion mag, but the world's most famous magazine editor said that's the whole point. Sometimes tacky is fabulous! Or so she says.

"I see the role of Vogue to reflect what's going on in the culture," she told Fashionista. "The first celebrity that I put on the cover of Vogue was Madonna, and that was considered completely controversial at the time, too. It's such a long time ago probably no one remembers, but she was a very controversial figure. Now she's part of the establishment.

"I think if we just remain deeply tasteful and just put deeply tasteful people on the cover, it would be a rather boring magazine!" Wintour continued, directly implying that Kimye is pretty much the furthest thing from tasteful possible. "Nobody would talk about us. It's very important that people do talk about us."

She also said that Kardashian's little sister's new gig is absolute genius marketing.

"Going back to Estée Lauder's decision to make Kendall Jenner the face of Estée Lauder. What a fantastic decision that was! They have a wonderful brand that's very traditionally American, and they decided they want to shake it up and reach a different audience," she said. "Now and again one has to do things like that. I think it's part of the excitement and part of being a journalist. I hope another Kim Kardashian comes along this year!"

Oh god please don't let another Kim Kardashian come along this year. That's my Christmas wish. I'll give up world peace for that one.
