Boko Haram: Adamawa Governor Cries Out

Adamawa State Governor, James Ngilari, has expressed fear that the Boko Haram sect may overrun the entire state as the sect has already captured over five local governments and are on the verge of capturing more towns in the state, Vanguard reports.

The governor pleaded with the military authorities to deploy more troops to the state, in order to prevent it from being completely overrun by the Boko Haram insurgents.

He said the insurgents have recently taken over Mubi, the second largest town in Adamawa State, as well as Vintim, the hometown of Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh.

Boko Haram renamed two towns it captured in the northeast as part of campaign to establish a caliphate in the region.

The insurgents seized the town of Mubi in Adamawa state last week and now insist it be called Madinatul Islam, or "City of Islam" in Arabic.

Gwoza in neighbouring Borno state which was captured in July is now being called Darul Hikma or "House of Wisdom".
