Burkina Faso's Military Leader Wants Transition 'Within 2 Weeks'

Protests in Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso's new military leader said he wanted to return the country to civilian rule "within two weeks", a union leader who met him Tuesday said.

"If everyone agrees, there is no reason that the transition [from military rule] shouldn't be done within two weeks," Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Zida said, according to union leader Joseph Tiendrebeogo.
