Channing Tatum Confirms He Plays ‘Gambit’ In New X-Men Movie

US actor Channing Tatum has confirmed another X-Men spin-off, which would be on the character ‘Gambit’. According to Deadline, Channing Tatum has signed on to play the card-throwing mutant. Tatum hinted earlier this year a Gambit film was on the way, saying it “might not be your typical superhero movie, because Gambit’s sort of on the fringe.” Gambit appeared in 2009′s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, though Tatum suggested he would offer a much different, Southern-style take on the character.

Tatum, 34, was first confirmed to play the charming, card-slinging mutant in May, when producer Lauren Shuler Donner made the casting announcement during a red carpet interview.

“He’s a rogue, Channing. He’s a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau,” she said. “And he can handle the action, we all know that. And he’s got a really good heart. … So I think he’ll be great for Gambit.”
