Beyonce Gets Choked Up Singing \'Blue\'

Jay Z and daughter Blue Ivy Carter present the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award to honoree Beyonce onstage....

Beyonce put on an epic, lengthy medley from her "Beyonce" album at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday.

While performing an excerpt of her song "Blue"(about 2-year-old daughter Blue Ivy), she faced a screen behind her on which footage of herself, baby Blue and husband Jay Z was projected.

Toward the end of the song, Bey became visibly emotional, her eyes glistening with tears as she looked out in to the VMA audience where Jay was holding Blue on his lap.

As Beyonce accepted the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award, the VMA's version of a lifetime achievement award, at The Forum in Inglewood, she kissed her daughter and husband Jay Z, who called her the "greatest living entertainer." The duo won best collaboration for the hit "Drunk In Love." Suzanne Marques reports.
